WCIT Equality Committee’s International Women’s Day event 2021

Congratulations to the Equality Committee for organising a stimulating panel discussion event on 9 March which marked International Women’s Day 2021.  Speakers included WCIT members Professor Sue Black OBE, Sarah Winmill, Tom Ilube CBE and Sheila Flavell CBE.  The theme of this year’s event was #choosetochallenge.  The panel covered a variety of topics ranging from their personal experience of challenges relating to equality; the question of quotas; attracting more women into the IT industry; and looking at the way in which AI/algorithms can be biased against women.   The Master concluded the event by recognising the importance of having a diverse membership within WCIT.  Thanks to everyone involved for making the event such a success.
