Royal Signals: Inspiring Women in Technology Conference – 5 October 2022

Liverymen Charles Ryder, Vicki Schmidt and Sarah Trevelion promoted the work of the WCIT Livery at the Royal Signals Inspiring Women in Technology conference held in Warminster on 5 October.
The conference brings together regular and reserve soldiers and officers from across the Royal Signals – and their allies – to inspire and encourage women of the Corps to achieve their full potential within a technical field. Senior female industry figures participated including Sara Sharkey CBE, Director Consulting at Deloitte UK; Helen Birchall, Business Development Army & Deployed Operations at Fujitsu; Michelle de Klerk, Founder of the Women’s Chapter; and Mivy James, Head of Consulting for National Security and Defence at BAE Systems Applied Intelligence.
The celebration of female Royal Signals successes from within the Army, of which professionalisation and networking are key parts, were showcased by a panel of serving female soldiers of a variety of ranks and included a reservist.
During the conference, Lt Col McDermott delivered a presentation summarising the opportunities as part of the “Future of the Network” serial. . Maj Gen John Collyer, RSWIT Network Champion, delivered the Opening Address.
It is planned to hold the conference next year and we will be looking for volunteers to come along, mingle and talk to the delegates about the Livery and its relevance to Royal Signals personnel.
