3rd Annual Children’s Hackathon goes from strength to strength

Innovative ideas shone at the 3rd Annual Children’s Hackathon held on Thursday 14th November, the 3rd annual WCIT Hackathon for school children, reached its climax. The event, organised by the Digital Inclusion Panel, saw students from various schools compete to solve this year’s challenge of making Further and Tertiary education more effective and accessible through the use of technology – and boy, were we bowled over by the quality of the ideas.
Thank you to our superb judges – our Master Gary Moore (who also set the challenge), Associate Dean at City, University of London Anton Cox and the CEO of Urban Synergy Leila Thomas FRSA. Well done to Hammersmith Academy (Dr. Andrew Curtis) for coming first with Merchant Taylors’ School, Northwood second (Eliot Williams) and Lilian Baylis Technology School (Ibe Chukwuma) runners up.
Special mention goes to Genuine Solutions for the children’s presents and Neil Evans for handing them out. Also to Mohson Khan and the City, University of London for hosting in the wonderfully appropriate Ada Lovelace Room. Lastly, thank you to the Lady Mayoress Florence King for joining us.
Congratulations to Dr. Curtis from Hammersmith who received a commemorative silver spoon from the Lady Mayoress, presented by the Master, as the teacher of the winning team. Here’s to next year!
