The WCIT and UK Space Command: a historic affiliation that looks forward to a very long and fruitful collaboration

The historic affiliation between the WCIT and UK Space Command was sealed with a handshake between Master Gus Machado and Colonel Chris Fogarty MBE, and the formal exchange of letters, at the Vintners’ Hall on 19 November.
The Master announced that this marked the beginning of a partnership built upon shared values – innovation, technology and service to our nation – and reflected WCIT’s commitment to supporting the Armed Forces and fostering collaboration in areas that matter deeply to both organisations. The Master reflected that UKSpC is driving forward the UK’s capabilities in space; a domain critical to our security and future prosperity of our country.
Colonel Chris Fogarty said the affiliation was a real privilege and in a sector that is critical for our national security, delivers vital services that underpin our economy, protect our daily way of life, and importantly offers huge opportunities for UK economic growth, “I can think of no better partnership”.
UK Space Command is the defence lead for space operations, space workforce and space capability. It’s a joint command staffed by people from the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Airforce alongside civil servants and contractors.
