WCIT LGBTQ+ Social Group Visits the Old Bailey

On 10 March 2026, the WCIT LGBTQ+ Social Group was welcomed to the Old Bailey by Sheriff and Deputy Keith Bottomley for a reception and tour. The Old Bailey is of huge historical and current importance to the application of justice in the City of London, and indeed England and Wales. The most serious cases are heard there and many high-profile acts of justice are delivered. The location is also poignant for the LGBTQ+ community as it is the same location in which Oscar Wilde was tried at the end of the 19th century.

20 members and guests spent the evening being shown the famous court rooms, both new and old and spending some time in the cells, reflecting on their experience. Upon release, attendees retired to a local restaurant to discuss the experience over dinner. The conclusion was that an excellent evening was had by all!
