You are invited to our Barney Gibbens Memorial Lecture in commemoration of our founding Master.

The virtual event will begin with a welcome from the Deputy Master Rob Wirszycz before he introduces our guest speaker Liveryman Richard Holway MBE. During Richard’s near 40 years as an IT Analyst, he has introduced his followers to many themes including Acquisition Indigestion, the Boring Awards, Y2K microclimate, dot.con, Holway’s Martini Moment, MyTop and many others.

As Richard readily admits, getting predictions right is the easy bit – getting the timescales right is far more difficult! The Barney Gibbens Lecture gives Richard the opportunity to revisit his past themes, observe how they have stood the test of time and gaze, yet again, into the future.

Richard has long been considered to be one of the UK’s leading ICT analysts. Starting as a trainee computer programmer in 1966, progressing to join the board of Hoskyns (now Capgemini) in 1979 before forming Richard Holway Limited in 1986. Richard Holway Limited published the annual Holway Report, SystemHouse and one of the first tech blogs required daily reading for tens of thousands d directors. After being acquired by Ovum, he joined forces with Anthony Miller in 2008 to form TechMarketView LLP and has served as its Chairman until the recently announced MBO. In 2002, Richard was one of the founding members of the Prince’s Trust Technology Leadership Group and served on the Prince’s Trust Advisory Board between 2011 to 2016. He has considerable experience as an NED; including at the publicly quoted £1.4b Allianz Technology Trust plc between Jan 2007 and Dec 2019. Richard was awarded an MBE in the 2012 Queen’s Birthday Honours for his involvement as a volunteer at the Prince’s Trust. The citation read ‘for services to young people’.

This virtual event is free to attend and your Zoom connection details will be confirmed once you have registered.
