The Government and Events Panels have great pleasure in inviting you to a fascinating tour of the Honourable Artillery Company’s (HAC) home, the beautiful and historical 18th century Armoury House near Moorgate.  Armoury House is set in a uniquely large garden for the area, complete with the City’s only cricket ground.
The HAC, the oldest regiment in the British Army, has a long and fascinating history and guests will have the opportunity to hear all about it and to visit the Museum and other parts of the House, including viewing the elegant wood panelled Long Room with its fascinating collection of historic paintings.
Armoury House is home to the Company of Pikemen & Musketeers, the Lord Mayor’s ceremonial bodyguard, and members and their guests will be given a private conducted tour by the Pikemen and hear about their history and view their armoury.
Timings are:
  • 17:30-18.00 Guests gather at Armoury House
  • 18:00 Presentation in the Medal Room by the Company of Pikemen outlining the origins and history of the HAC and its constituent parts – Army Reserve Regiment, Pikemen & Musketeers, Light Cavalry etc
  • 18:30 approx Guests split into groups for a tour of the main rooms of Armoury House and the museum:
  • 19:00 approx Groups meet together in the Pikemen & Musketeers armoury. There will be an opportunity to handle weapons and try on armour and enjoy bubbly and a finger buffet.
  • 20:00 approx Guests free to leave
We are very fortunate to have this wonderful opportunity to visit such a beautiful and historical building which houses so much of the City’s history and to hear all about it.  The cost for this special event is £50; maximum numbers are 30, first come first served.  Please register for the event by 31 March.
