We invite all Liverymen, Freemen and Journeymen, their families, friends and colleagues to join us for a celebration of our new Freemen.


Venue: Ironmongers’ Hall, Shaftesbury Place, off Aldersgate Street, Barbican, London EC2Y 8AA.

Ironmongers’ first Hall dates back to 1457 and was in Fenchurch Street; it was rebuilt both in 1587 and again in 1745 on the same site. The third Hall was destroyed on 7 July 1917 by a bomb dropped during World War I. The present Hall stands on land which was bought in 1922 and it was opened on 17 June 1925.


Guest speaker: Alderman & Sheriff Nicholas Lyons

Nicholas Lyons took office as one of the Sheriffs of the City of London on 28 September 2021. He was elected Alderman for Tower Ward in September 2017 and sits on the Education Board as well as the Epping Forest and Commons Committee at the City of London Corporation. He has also sat on Planning and Transportation and the Finance Committees. Nicholas is President of the Tower Ward Club, a member of the Guild of Freemen, the City Livery Club, the City of London Club and is also a director of the Lord Mayor‘s Show Ltd.


Reception: Doors open at 18.30 for a 19.15 dinner Carriages: The event will finish at 22.00

Dress: Black Tie with Decorations, Badges of Office and Livery Sashes
